This class gives one a taste of Thai Massage without delving into its complexities - great for people who have never worked on the floor or are new to bodywork. Thai Massage - Fundamentals

Learn to open the energy lines of the body with movement, stretching and compression. This ancient and dynamic form of bodywork opens the joints and releases blocked energy and can be practiced in its traditional form or integrated with other forms. In this class we move beyond the basic elements of Thai Massage and explore how to weave these elements into an entire sequence. Learn to give a complete massage using all four body configurations (supine, side-lying, prone and seated) as well as integrate this dynamic practice on to the table.

This introductory classes introduces students to the basic concepts, principles and techniques of Zen Shiatsu. The objective of this basic course is to familiarizestudents with traditional floor Shiatsu in prone, supine, side-;lying and seated positions. Students will learn the meridians and the use of techniques to relieve stagnation and promote the free flow of qi (energy) in the body.
Intermediate Thai - Healing Structural Injuries @ Mckinnon Institute of Bodywork Therapy (510) 465-3588
Sat/Sun, 3 Weekends (32 hours) 9am - 6pm, Apr 22, 23; May 6,7 2023 - $610.
This class builds upon the instruction in Thai 1 which introduced the basic forms, principles and techniques of Thai Massage in each of the primary positions: Supine, Prone, Side-Lying & Seated. In Thai II we continue to learn new techniques but now the emphasis shifts to addressing common issues and injuries that a practitioner is likely to encounter in private practice; common structural ailments such as sciatica, low back pain, frozen shoulder etc. After taking this course, you will feel better prepared to apply your knowledge of Thai Yoga bodywork towards helping clients cope with injuries and pain.
